Shepherding the Sheep

I am presently reading the book "Shepherding the Sheep" by Benjamin Baker. It is a good book so far, it enlightens me about pastoring since I am a new pastor I need all the help I can get.
Chapter 1 talks about the Pastor as Pastor it deals with the different styles of Pastors. Chapter 2 deals with the Pastor as a Preacher. If you are a new pastor or an old one it is a good book to read. I am about to get off of here and read me another chapter before I go to bed. I will tell you about it tomorrow.

Brownsboro 134th Anniversary

Today I preached at Brownsboro Baptist Church for their 134th Church Anniversary. The Spirit of the Lord was truly in the house. We had a wonderful time. Rev. Meredith Trabue was in the house today. He is one of my mentors, I got a little nervous when I seen him in the house, but the Rock was strong enough to hold me up and made it a wonderful service.

Standing on the Rock

Tomorrow I don't have to preach in the morning. My brother Rev. Earl W. Drake Jr. will be delivering the morning message. I will be delivering the evening message at Brownsboro Baptist Church for their 134th Church Anniversary.

Standing on the Rock: Numbers20:7,8; Matthew 16:18

My First Blog

Welcome to my first entry. I am new at this, I hope you will enjoy my entry.

I just returned from the E.K. Bailey Expository Preaching Conference. I had a wonderful time. I attended with my good friend Rev. Walter Davis, Pastor of Fourth Street Baptist Church of Owensboro Ky. I Learned a lot and enjoyed some good preaching. I had a chance to spend some time with a new friend, Rev. F. Bruce Williams, pastor of Bates Memorial here in Louisville. I really enjoyed talking and asking questions. I got to hearRev. Ralph West, Telis Chapman and my favorite Stephen Thurston. We also had a chance to sit in on Rev. Dr. Freddie Haynes Bible Study at Friendship West MBC. It was great! Nobody can go like Freddie.
